Shifting Dietary Paradigm in a Transforming Economy and Implications for Animal Nutrition Research in India
Invitation
It is an immense pleasure for the Animal Nutrition Association of India (ANA) to cordially invite you to its third International Conference on Animal Nutrition 2026 (INCAN 2026), on the theme “Shifting Dietary Paradigm in a Transforming Economy and Implications for Animal Nutrition Research in India,” to be held in Kolkata from 15 to 17 December, 2026. Economic changes, along with rapid urbanisation and a younger consumer base, are reshaping food preferences toward convenience, consistency, and value-added animal products, with demand increasingly inclining toward poultry, fish, processed meats, packaged eggs, and diversified dairy products. These shifts are influencing not only production patterns but also expectations from animal nutrition, where the focus now extends beyond performance to product quality, processing suitability, and cost efficiency under conditions of feed resource competition and price volatility. Animal nutrition research, therefore, needs to align more closely with these market signals and consumption trends, and the conference will explore how research priorities can respond to these changing production and demand dynamics across dairy, aquaculture, poultry, and swine systems in India. The conference will host a distinguished global assembly of eminent Academicians, Scientists, Scholars, Students, Policy makers, Industrialists, Entrepreneurs, and Farmers from India and abroad. A series of theme talks, technical sessions, and roundtables will be held during the conference.

Animal Nutrition Association
The Animal Nutrition Association (ANA) made its modest beginning in 1993 as the Animal Nutrition Club at the historic ‘Division of Animal Nutrition’ of the ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar. Based on the overwhelming response, the Animal Nutrition Club was transformed into the ‘Animal Nutrition Association’ and was registered with the Registrar of Societies in 1994. Since then, ANA has grown in leaps and bounds, boasting more than 1100 life members across India and beyond. The ANA is a member organization of the World Association of Animal Production (WAAP), Rome.
The ANA publishes its official scientific journal ‘Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology’ which is acclaimed widely for its scientific content and impact. Since 1997, the ANA has been organising conferences, workshops and symposia to foster fraternity among professionals, share and exchange knowledge on the latest advances, and, more importantly, sketch out the strategies for the improvement in animal nutrition research and education. ANA has thus far successfully organised twelve biennial conferences, one international conference, eight national workshops and a centennial symposium.
